Sometimes we all need a bit of support

Practical Helps
Food Bank

Every weekend both at church and the cafe weekly we take food collections for Cottingham Food Bank.

Manna Meals
When people go through surgeries, illnesses, new births or family losses, a nice home cooked meal can be one of the best ways we can show the support and encouragement of our church family both to those calling Christ Church home or our community. Being a Manna Meal volunteer simply means that you will receive emails whenever their is a person or family in need of meals for a short period of time. You will have the option to select an evening to cook and/or deliver a meal to them. If your schedule at that time doesn't allow you to help, that's alright, just pass on the request and help out next time.
To find out more please email receptioncccott@gmail.com
To request a meal please call us on (01482) 842277 or contact us using the above email address.

Pastoral Care
PASTORAL SUPPORT
First things first, the only "requirements" we need from any person concerning pastoral care from us are 3 things:
1-Be honest. Truth is our only way forward. Unless you are honest with us we cant help at all.
2-Be yourself. Relax, everything starts with relationship. We are not professional counsellors so a chat and coffee will do for a start.
3-Have no ulterior agendas. This is about you. Nobody can change another person/people or organisation.
Our desire here at Christ Church is for everyone to live a healthy life physically and spiritually, but from time to time, we all need help and support from other people. We understand that the word "pastoral care" is very broad and for us as a church means compassion, practical help, ongoing support and friendship, prayer, listening and encouragement.

The main support and care structure is through our Connect Groups where group leaders are available to listen, encourage and may be able to enlist the help of the group to offer support. Beyond this, as a resource to those who call Christ Church home, we can supply meals though our Manna Meals program. Pastors Scott & Giovanna can be available for prayer and to provide a listening ear along with our Leadership Team. They may be able to visit while you are in hospital or at home unwell, they can help with planning funeral services and also wedding planning including premarital preparation. They are always accountable to our managing trustees and cannot offer 100% confidentiality on some matters but will talk through 100% discretion with you before you meet with them.

We do not currently offer a counselling service, however this can be referred for you. We operate and abide at all times by our pastoral support policy and guidelines. We have vulnerable adult and child policies and officers in place and a safeguarding policy. For more information about these documents please visit our essential documents page by clicking HERE.

PERSONAL PRAYER MINISTRY
We have a small team of people trained in basic prayer ministry. These are people released by Christ Church Cottingham and are available to pray in agreement and faith during crises or ongoing need on Sundays after the services. These people will not counsel but will pray or intercede for you. Please feel free to request prayer following any Sunday Service.
For general prayer requests please use our contact page.

Corporate Prayer
PRAYER BASICS
The life, power and glory of the Church is prayer. The life of its members is dependent on prayer and the presence of God is secured and retained by prayer. We pray in faith and according to the Word. We believe that every decision, every plan and every step forward in this body of believers must be bathed in prayer.

CORPORATE PRAYER
Your invited to join us the last Saturday of every month from 8:00AM - 9:00AM as we unite together in prayer with other churches at CCCoffee, King Street. We also have a prayer night on every 4th Sunday evening. Allow us to encourage you in the area of prayer - what you have prayed for, plowed for, sown into, longed for, fasted for, and wept over - expect it to become a reality and expect the power of prayer to make the difference!

Prophetic Ministry

CHRIST CHURCH PROTOCOL FOR THE GIVING AND RECEIVING OF SPOKEN PROPHETIC WORDS
The following information provides protection for everybody:
Prophecy is one of the nine gifts listed in 1 Cor. 12:8-11. Its purpose is to stir-up, lift-up and cheer-up.
It should be: Christ glorifying and Christ honouring; communicated in a gracious, loving and humble manner; released in proportion to our faith; line up with the scriptures; generally confirm what God is already speaking to the receiver.
Biblical, anointed prophetic ministry will bring with it blessing and increase. It should pass all of the characteristics above and be: received from those affirmed and released by the Pastors and Leadership of Christ Church Cottingham to do so; judged against the Word, previous direction of the Lord in one’s life and wise counsel. (1 Thes. 5:20,21)

During a worship service, prophetic words may be submitted to any Connect Group leader or leadership team member (see the notice table in the foyer). Please do not bring it directly to Pastor Scott during a service as he will be giving attention to the flow of the service. When you bring it to us, a number of procedures will happen:
You will be asked to write out the word to be discerned & read/ published possibly at a later date.
It may be released to the Church Leadership first.
It may be released in whole or in part by the individual leading the meeting with agreement of members of the leadership team.
In some cases you may be asked to release the word during the service. We do not operate an open microphone so somebody will hold the microphone for you.
Please do not approach a person and give a prophetic word in private within Christ Church Cottingham or its services. This is not something we endorse or recognise.

If any person has a indicated they have a prophetic word for you:
Following each corporate gathering at Christ Church, we have a small designated ministry team, identified with Ministry Team badges, as well as staff members who would be glad to come along side if you have been invited to receive a prophetic word from someone in the congregation. Our desire is that prayer and prophetic words find release within the setting of the church building where ministry team are available for assistance and discernment.

The prayer request button below is always available for any written prophetic insights, scriptures, visions, revelation, etc.
We welcome the strengthening of the body through this area of gifting.
