Our Sermon and Teaching Ethos:
The time when we study the Bible is an important part of the service when one of our preachers preach a sermon. Our Pastor and preaching team are committed to treating the Bible with respect by reading within its literary and historical context, attempting to understand the author’s intent, dealing with the specific words, and by addressing how culture and our lives are related to the gospel.

You will find yourself immersed in the story, discover purpose and passion, find practical application for your life today.

We plan a year of preaching/teaching using a key series and scripture with sub sections divided out quarterly.
We use various styles of preaching/teaching to communicate Gods word, power point or white boards are often used.
Topical, Textual or Expository Sermons are our most used styles at Christ Church but what does that really mean?
Topical Preaching: A topical message is a sermon where a preacher uses passages to support a thesis about a particular topic. (eg. How to be a Disciple)  Paul & Peter wrote topically and used 'texts' to support their points.
Textual Preaching: A text message is one where a singular passage of the Bible is used as a jumping point to discuss a particular thesis. (eg. 1 Corinthians 13 to discuss Love is an Action)
Expository Preaching: An expository sermon is following a book of the Bible, passage-by-passage to allow the text to determine the point.  We do this once a year on a particular book of the Bible and take a couple of months to do so.
However, we do not believe there is one best way to preach or communicate. Depending on the speaker, each week could be different and the speaker may employ different tools in order to communicate best.
