GDPR with Christ Church Cottingham
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. The GDPR replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive. The Data Controllers for Christ Church Cottingham are the Managing Trustees (Christ Church Leadership Team)
What does this mean for me?
As you may be aware, data protection law changed on 25 May 2018. To make sure you understand how we will use your personal data in future, we have updated our Data Privacy Notice which is available here. Please give it a read.
Because of the new law known as the “GDPR”, it was necessary for everyone to give their consent before the Church could communicate with them by post, email or phone after 25 May 2018.
What do I need to do?
If you want to update us or make changes so we can keep contacting you with anything related to Christ Church Cottingham, we need your permission. Simply download our GDPR Consent Form by clicking below and return it to Pastor Scott or one of our other managing trustees or you can email it in to us at [email protected] These forms are also in the foyer every time you come into the building. From time to time we will contact all those who have given us permission previously asking for permission again. This is because as people make changes, leave and arrive we want to keep our records up to date and its easy for you to forget to notify us of any changes.
If we do not hear from you after the request is made, we will assume you do not give us permission and delete your contact detail and cease to make contact. Where members of a family share an address, each family member wishing to receive communications will need to give their consent separately.
Thank you in advance for helping us deal with the data protection law.
