The Story Of Us
Christ Church Cottingham's story:
1950's
Christ Church started in the 50’s as a small group of Christians meeting regularly in Manor House, Hallgate.
1988
This group with a congregation of 12 officially opened the church on Endyke Lane. Pastor Roger and the team extended the building and the house next door (commonly known as Church House) was purchased for children’s ministry.
Christ Church Cottingham was at this time an FIEC church looking to bless its community and grow.
2005
Pastor Steve began leading Christ Church, Manna Coffee was launched as a Christian Café in the heart of the village.
2008-2010
More land was purchased during for the expansion plans of the existing church.
2011
Pastors Scott & Giovanna began leading Christ Church Cottingham.
2012
In March we gained charitable status with a new constitution and rules.
Elected leaders then became Managing Trustees of the new charity.
2013
In December Mannacoffee was closed awaiting a relaunch.
2014
We launched CCCoffee (Christ Church Community Coffee) and registered the cafe as a CIO.
2015
In March we launched our 2nd service, a 6:32pm evening service of prophetic worship and healing.
2017
Christ Church Cottingham registered as a CIO (CHARITABLE INCORPORATED ORGANISATION) with a new constitution and handbook. These details are updated and found on the charities commission website.
In June we launched our 3rd & 4th service, a slightly more structured & traditional service at 9:00am & a 4th Sunday evening prayer & worship service.
2018
We ceased to be an "FIEC" church and became members of "Evangelical Alliance".
For us this is part of our goal to connect strongly with a network of like minded churches.
2019
We launched two significant outreach ministries. A community coffee morning at church and a new biblical based toddlers group we call "Little Stars". We also closed the charity formally known as Christ Church Cottingham setup back in 2012.
2020-2021
Wow. 2 years of the epidemic and restrictions had us rethinking everything! CCCoffee closed.
2022 post lockdown...
Rebuilding from the inside out is taking place as we re-establish what we know as "Church".
We are shifting our pre-built children's ministry building behind our existing church building.
We have upgraded our all access bathrooms and will be improving the outside paving/parking areas around the building.
-We launched our community cafe coffee mornings in April.
-We launched PlayCafe in September which is incredibly well attended and the coffee & home baking is superb!
2023
-We launched BabyCafe in September which is incredibly well attended and the coffee & home baking is superb!
-We opened our garden and relaunched our Sunday Children's ministry in April.
-We opened the children's ministry space "the cabin" in November.
