What is "Tithing"
Tithing is our starting place in giving. The Bible teaches us about a baseline standard for giving: the tithe (a word that literally means a “tenth”). When we give the first 10% of our income through the local church, we put God first in our lives.
Tithing is an act of worship that expresses our gratitude, faith, and love for others. God also encourages us to give offerings beyond our tithe to specific projects at our local church and to other organisations and causes that we personally believe in.

Giving Opportunities
We see regular sacrificial giving of our hard earned money as an act of worship from the heart and a joyful responsibility of the gospel for those who are a part of Jesus’ church(Prov 3:9; 1 Cor 9:13-14; 2 Cor 9:1-15; 1 Tim 5:17-18).
We call our members & regular friends to give, not by meeting some obligatory percentage or payment, but gladly sacrificing firstfruits for the sake of the gospel because Jesus, God’s first, was sacrificed for us, and all we have is His. To be very clear, your generosity not only helps pay for our building, bills and staff wages but it also invests in our children, our teaching resources, missions work and other Kingdom focussed initiatives. We are not after anyone's money, please freely receive. If Christ Church is your home church, you are an official member, or are desiring to support the ministry of our church…then there are three ways you can give: either on Sunday mornings in an offering container in the foyer, by standing order for regular giving, by contactless or chip and pin on Sunday mornings or via online for one time gifts. “God will supply every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:18 Christ Church is a Registered Charity, Number 1174283. All Contributions by UK tax payers are giftaidable. If you would like to donate to Christ Church Cottingham today to help us with our projects & mission then please click the donate button below: |
We had an idea. Based on Mark 14 and the woman with the alabaster jar.
What if we put a big alabaster jar in church and if you wanted to, you could put spare change into it. At the end of the year or whenever its full...we smash it open and give all the money away to an organisation that can use it to be a blessing to people? Its almost too simple. But its where our heart is. Its a form of worship. You cant miss it...its kind of big. |
