PASTORAL SUPPORT AND MEAL SUPPORT
PASTORAL SUPPORT
Our desire here at Christ Church is for everyone to live a healthy life physically and spiritually, but from time to time, we all need help and support from other people. We understand that the word "pastoral care" is very broad and for us as a church means compassion, practical help, ongoing support and friendship, prayer, listening and encouragement. The main support and care structure is through our Connect Groups where group leaders are available to listen, encourage and may be able to enlist the help of the group to offer support. Beyond this, as a resource to those who call Christ Church home, we can supply meals though our Manna Meals program. Pastors Scott & Giovanna can be available for prayer and to provide a listening ear along with our Leadership Team. They can visit while you are in hospital or at home unwell, they can help with planning funeral services and also wedding planning including premarital preparation. Please note that they are always accountable to our managing trustees and cannot offer 100% confidentiality on some matters but will talk through 100% discretion with you before you meet with them. We do not currently offer a counselling service, however this can be referred for you. We operate and abide at all times by our pastoral support policy and guidelines. We are guided by vulnerable adult and child policies with officers in place along with a safeguarding policy. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY It is important for all members of the public, church and our staff to be treated with courtesy and respect. To ensure this is fully observed, we have a Dignity at Work and Zero Tolerance policy. This means that aggressive or violent behaviour towards our staff or any member of the public guests or church membership within our premises or within our programs and fellowship groups will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Anyone giving verbal abuse under these circumstances either in person, over the telephone, via mobile phone or on our social media channels, will result in the termination of our contact and we may refer to any authorities required. We feel sure that you will understand that proper behaviour is absolutely necessary for our staff and members including guests and that non-observance will not be accepted. PERSONAL PRAYER MINISTRY AND PRAYER TEAM We have a small team of people trained in basic prayer ministry. These are people released by Christ Church Cottingham and are available to pray in agreement and faith during crises or ongoing need. These people will not counsel but will pray or intercede for you. Please feel free to request prayer following any Sunday Service or by making contact using the button below. |
MANNA MINISTRIES PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING:
MANNA FOOD BANK Every weekend both at church and the cafe weekly we take food collections for our Food Bank but also support Cottingham Village food bank. We run an emergency food parcel service Mon-Wed 9am-1pm. MANNA MEALS When people go through surgeries, illnesses, new births or family losses, a nice home cooked meal can be one of the best ways we can show the support and encouragement of our church family both to those calling Christ Church home or our community. Being a Manna Meal volunteer simply means that you will receive emails whenever there is a person or family in need of meals for a short period of time. You will have the option to select an evening to cook and/or deliver a meal to them. If your schedule at that time doesn't allow you to help, that's alright, just pass on the request and help out next time. To find out more please contact us here: Email reception@cccottingham.org.uk To request a meal please call us on (01482) 842277 or contact us using the above email address. |
